Maple Syrup Festival

 

The 24th Annual Maple Syrup Festival will be held in conjunction with the Indian Lake Area Chamber of Commerce Pancake Breakfast on March 21 and 22, 2009, at the Indian Lake State Park. The pancake and sausage breakfast is served at the Indian Lake State Park campground commissary located at 13156 North State Route 235, Lakeview from 8 a.m. - 2 p.m. on Saturday and 8 a.m. - 1 p.m. on Sunday. The breakfast is $4 per adult and $2 per child. Pints, quarts and gallons of real maple syrup will be for sale both days from the Indian Lake Development Corporation.  More photos and story ...


Ring of Fire - Labor Day Weekend 2009

Neighbors, friends, and family celebrate the beginning of the fall season with the annual event.  The celebration started in 1961 at Indian Lake mimics the Seneca tribe of Native Americans in New York state who celebrated a bountiful harvest by lighting bonfires around the shore of the lake. video ...


 

Turkey Foot Benefit Crew Hospice Bass Tournament 2009

Perfect weather for the bass tournament brought out 170 boats, over 250 fish were caught weighing a total of 389.36 pounds. The tournament is a catch and release contest and all fish turned in were alive and returned to the lake. 1st Place went to Bob Davis and Jim Miller, 5 fish 12.42 lbs, prize was $2000.00. The biggest bass was caught by the team of Michael Manor and Darian Ginter, it was 4.18 lbs which earned them $1700.00. The tournament awarded cash prizes to the top ten places and the top three big bass of the day. Merchandise prizes were given to the top 50 contestants. Total cash for tournament winners was $10,200.00 and there were awards for 1-50 in prizes worth thousands of dollars. more ...
 


Main Street Jazz Entertains at
St. Mary's of the Woods Festival

Despite some rain early in the day, hundreds of people enjoyed the St. Mary's of the Woods Annual Festival held for the first time at Fisher's Flea Market.  Some vendors stayed open and the festival had two full barns with games of chance, a silent auction, and many games for the children.  A petting zoo, pony rides, and amusement rides provided fun for the entire family.  The famous chicken dinners sold out both evenings.  Church volunteers said they liked the ability to be able to set up early and take some time to clean up after the event.  More photos and YOUTUBE Video


Wooden Keels and Vintage Wheels

This annual event is popular with the young and old.  For those who can remember the wooden boats lined up in the Russells Point Harbor to take you on a sunset cruise, it brings back many happy memories.  The 1925 Ford, still running and looking splendid is a testimony to the quality of this American motor company.  Thanks to the many owners who brought boats and cars to this annual event.  More pictures and YOUTUBE Video


Danger On the State Park Beach

Danger Brothers, that is, on the beach on Saturday, July 18, 2009, for a great concert.  Thousands listened from the beach and from their boats as the venerable Danger Brothers entertained with a broad range of music from the 60's through the present day.  This concert sponsored by the Indian Lake Chamber of Commerce is a premier event for Indian Lake.  More photos and YOUTUBE Video


Hurley Farms Festivals

Apple dumplings, home made ice cream, mums, pumpkins, and llamas were available on Saturday, September 19, 2009, at Hurley's farm market.  They also had great fresh corn, green beans, and much more.  If you missed Saturday you can visit on October 3, 2009, for their annual Pumpkin Fest with pumpkin painting, pony rides, games, and lots of good food from 10:00 AM - 5:00 PM. Hurley's Farm Market is located on Route 117 two miles north of Huntsville just north of the Duff quarry.


Fall Festival at State Park

Good weather, sun, and lots of friendly folks made the 2009 Fall Festival a good end-of-the-summer celebration.  The annual event which is held at the Indian Lake State Park campground attracts visitors from around the state and nearby states.  Hundreds of people enjoyed over 100 exhibits, food, entertainment, and artisans.  More pictures and movie ...
